The Panama Canal has announced a series of enhancements to its Transit Reservation System, aimed at delivering faster, more accessible service to customers across the global maritime industry. According to the Panama Canal Authority, the updates reflect customer feedback and form part of its ongoing commitment to operational improvement and service efficiency.
Beginning October 5, 2025, the operating hours of the Transit Reservation Office will be extended from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, allowing customers — particularly those located in distant time zones — to complete reservations and related transactions without having to wait until the following business day.
During these expanded hours, all transactions, including auctions, may be carried out. However, the Panama Canal noted that tie-breaking competitions held at the beginning of each competitive period will continue to take place at their regular scheduled times.
In addition, for reservations dated October 7, 2025 onward, Reservation Period 3 will close daily at 3:00 p.m. local time, including both weekdays and weekends. This adjustment will apply equally to all three vessel categories: Neopanamax, Supers, and Regular.
With these changes, the Panama Canal reaffirmed its commitment to adapting its services to the evolving needs of the maritime sector and to providing customers with more flexible and efficient booking options.
