Stillstrom by Maersk, a leading marine technology company specializing in offshore power and charging solutions, has reinforced its leadership team with several senior appointments in Copenhagen and Aberdeen.
At the company’s Copenhagen headquarters, Nikolaj Stald has been named Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). With more than 15 years of experience in the offshore wind sector, he will spearhead Stillstrom’s commercial strategy and promote offshore charging as a cost-effective pathway to decarbonization. Before joining Stillstrom, Stald served as CCO at Føn Energy Services and previously held roles such as Director, Offshore Sales (UK & Ireland) at Vestas, along with various positions at Siemens Wind Power.
In Aberdeen, Gordon Dickson has been appointed Operations and Maintenance Lead. A Chartered Engineer with over two decades of O&M experience, he joins after working at Ithaca Energy, Neptune Energy, and CNR Ltd, where he primarily served as Electrical Technical Authority and Team Leader. His appointment underscores Stillstrom’s growing commitment to Aberdeen as a strategic hub for energy expertise.
In addition to these key hires, Stillstrom has recruited seven further team members across its legal, commercial, and HSEQ functions, bringing its total headcount to 31. Additional recruitment, particularly in Aberdeen, is planned for next year to support expansion in the UK and European markets.
The company has also reached several important technical milestones, including:
- Progressing connector manufacturing, advancing the technology toward commercial rollout.
- Securing DNV approval for stage two of a three-step technical qualification program, confirming its eCharger hang-off system for fixed offshore wind structures is validated and ready for deployment.
- Filing multiple patents to protect its innovative charging technology, safety systems, and industrial designs.
- Achieving ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, underscoring its dedication to quality management and environmental stewardship.
Furthermore, Stillstrom has completed a joint feasibility study with the Panama Canal Authority, following an MoU signed earlier this year. The study explored how offshore charging could help cut emissions from vessels idling in and around one of the world’s busiest shipping routes, with discussions now underway on potential next steps.
