Panama Canal Administrator Ricaurte Vásquez Morales participated as a panelist at World Energy Week 2025, an event organized by the World Energy Council in Panama City. The gathering brought together leaders, public officials, and energy experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding the transition toward a cleaner, more inclusive, and more resilient energy future.
During the event, the Panama Canal underscored that sustainability remains a central pillar of its long-term strategy, integrating operational efficiency, innovation, and environmental and social responsibility across its projects. According to the Canal, this vision is intended to generate value for Panama while reinforcing the country’s role in global connectivity and trade.
Looking ahead to the next decade, the Canal highlighted strategic investments in energy and logistics development, including plans for an energy corridor featuring an interoceanic gas pipeline. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening connectivity, improving the efficiency of global trade, and supporting Panama’s broader economic and logistical competitiveness.
The Canal also noted that these projects are expected to deliver positive economic and social benefits, including the generation of thousands of jobs and meaningful contributions to national growth. In this context, the Canal’s participation in World Energy Week 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability, international cooperation, and responsible development, in line with global efforts to advance a fair and sustainable energy transition.
